  1. Welcome

  2. Who are LORDS? • Created in 2009 by off road lovers. • For those interested in 4x4 at all levels. • Bring together like minded people. • Allows access to events/ opportunities that an individual otherwise would not have. • Have fun!

  3. What we do. • Aim to hold 2 off road events per month. • Organise events and trips. • Give access to those who don’t own a 4x4 • Organise/ subsidise events for those who own a 4x4 • Socials – Stash - Society

  4. Cost • £20 a year plus £5 LSU membership if not already a member. • £10 most events (full weekends and/ or access to club vehicle) • £5 – Greenlaning • Socials

  5. RTV (Road Taxed Vehicle) Trials • Trial driving over demanding terrain e.g. steep slopes, water, side-slopes, deep ruts, etc. • Course consists of gates just wide enough to get through, each section gets harder to finish. • You can’t stop and the more sections you finish the less points you get (think golf). • RTV Trials are focused on driver skill more than vehicle capability. • Club vehicle is available for these.

  6. Green Laning • These take place on unsurfaced roads (public rights of way) which are suitable for 4x4's. • The club runs daytrips (eg the peak district) and weekends away (Wales, Sailisbury). • Club vehicle is not allowed as they take place on public roads, but allow for some great sights and fun for passengers.

  7. Navigation challenges • Similar to orienteering but just over a larger area and drive to the locations, using which ever route they deem best. • Club vehicle use depends on where the challenge takes place, if done on private land it maybe available.

  8. Punch & Winch challenge • Trial where teams (1 or 2 vehicles, 2 people per vehicle) attempt to get as many punches as possible. • Punches are hidden amongst trees in often difficult to access places. • There are different levels of competition based on the vehicle, from fairly standard 4x4’s up to custom made and designed vehicles. • Club vehicle can be used.

  9. Pay n Play • Pay ‘n’ play days are trips to disused quarries which are publicly open to all 4×4’s. They are large sites for you to go wherever you like, if you can make it! • Club vehicle is available and can be used to teach how to drive off-road.

  10. Tyro • Tyro Trialling is an introduction to RTV/ Punch challenges. • Courses use gates but are set up so no harm or damage can come to the vehicle/ driver. • Modifications to vehicles are not allowed. • Club vehicle is available.

  11. Cross Country Vehicle (CCV) Trailing • Step up from RTV • Differs in that non-road legal vehicles are used and the terrain is more challenging. • Focus not just driver skill but also vehicle capability to be able to be successful. • Club vehicle not available due to level of difficulty.

  12. Comp safari • Against the clock. Time trials which require the use of 4x4 • Consist of features such as jumps, water splashes, logs, narrow gateposts, going through barns etc. • Club vehicle is not available due to risk of damage.

  13. Don’t own a 4x4? • Drive our club vehicle (drivers license required) and learn how to drive off road. • Passengering – best way to see the country (Salisbury to Scottish Highlands). • Great way of learning about off roading to get into it.
