Biden Names Neera Tanden Domestic Policy Advisor President Joe Biden has picked Indian-American Neera Tanden to serve as Assistant to the President and Domestic Policy Advisor, following former Ambassador Susan Rice’s exit from that role. Tanden, who currently serves as Senior Advisor to President Biden and Staff Secretary, will be the first Asian-American to lead any of the three major White House policy councils in history.

Kamala Harris, Several Indian Americans Participate In White House Initiative On Asian Americans The White House and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) on May 3, hosted an all-day event here, at The George Washington University that featured a slew of high-profile Indian Americans and drew more than 1,300 AA and NHPI community members from over two dozen states and U.S. territories.

Pennsylvania Senate Recognizes Diwali As Official Holiday The Pennsylvania State Senate has passed a bill to recognize Diwali as an official holiday, Nikil Saval, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate announced in a tweet. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Nikil Saval expressed gratitude to Greg Rothman for giving him the opportunity to join him in introducing the bill. He tweeted, “The Senate voted unanimously to recognize Diwali as an official holiday! To all Pennsylvanians who celebrate this festival of light and connection: you are seen, you are welcome, you matter. Thank you, @rothman_greg, for the opportunity to join you in introducing this bill.”
