SV All-Star Tournament • Why Mandatory Coaches meeting? • To communicate requirements for certifying their All-Star team • Ensure All-Stars Coaches know of info needed to certify their teams • Emphasize importance of certifying the Team on the 1st pass: • collecting correct documentation • submitting correct documentation • Emphasis on collecting documentation now, don’t wait • Sample Certification docs are located on the Section website: www.siliconvalleynjb.com – under “Winter Leagues”, “Division Rules & Docs” In your role as a coach and the Referee’s role as a game official, both should work more closely together nurturing our kids in our Silicon Valley NJB program!

SV All-Star Tournament • Sectional Team Qualifying to National Tournaments Two (2) Levels for qualifying “Divisional” All-Star teams: • Sectional “Divisional” Regular All-Star Tournament - March 1, 2, 3 - Opening Round - March 9, 10 - Final Round Top Sectional Tournament: - 1st place team advances to National - 2nd place team advances to National Lower Sectional Tournament - 1st place team advances to National • National “Divisional” Regular All-Star Tournament – March 22, 23, 24 - 1st place tournament * 1st place winner from Sectional top tournament - 2nd place tournament * 2nd place finisher from Sectional top tournament * 1st place winner from Sectional lower tournament

SV All-Star Tournament • Sectional Teams Qualifying to National Tournaments - cont • Sectional “Non All-Net” All-Star (NANAS) Tournament – March 2 - Host tournaments when enough teams, otherwise teams will receive an at-large birth straight to the National Tournament - Girls will be a separate schedule - Play High School rules Sectional & National Tournaments • National Tournament for “NANAS” Teams play in the 2nd level of Mikasa Tournament – March 9, 10 *Play against non-All-Net teams • Review Sectional All-Star Tournament structure • Pool & Bracket Play • 3 game minimum in Pool and/or Bracket Play • All Qualifying teams will receive a National Tournament info sheet handout • Teams will need to reserve hotel rooms for the Nationals in advance

SV All-Star Tournament • Certification for the Sectional Tournament consist of: • No binders – process will go faster • No sleeves – process will go faster • Team Certification documents paper clipped in the following order by Player order on Roster: • NJB All-Star Team Roster/Worksheet – type Team data into the printable MSWord version doc located on the Silicon Valley Section website: www.siliconvalleynjb.com – no Excel or hand type Roster • Birth Record - birth certificate, adoption papers, immigration papers or passports • NOT ACCEPTED - baptismal records, hospital records, school letters, medical cards • age meets grade level limits • Current Report Card - latest progress report acceptable • School Year and Players Grade must be on report card • Grading required: * 2.0 GPA – Secondary Schools * Satisfactory standing – Primary Schools • no letters in lieu of, or handwritten report cards • Proof of Address – current utility bill - gas, water or electric • * NO cell phone bills, no mortgage bills • * Online utility bills OK if name and address listed • 1 individual picture - affixed to 11 x 8.5 sheet of paper - close-up shot NOTE: Make sure the Chapter Director sign-off on the Roster!

SV All-Star Tournament • Other All-Star information: • A full team picture is required for advancement to the National tournament – uploaded to HQ website • All players must have their uniform number readable in the picture for the Nationals • All teams advancing to National must register and signup online • Each All-Star player must have played 4 regular season games • A Player can play up in a Division during the Regular Season and then play down in a Division for All-Stars • 10 players maximum per team - Regular All-Stars • 12 players maximum per team - NANAS (Roster in All-Net docs) • No Roster or Certification of potential substitute players • Coaches MUST submit a Lopsided Score Report for all point differences of 35 points or more. Form located on Section website • Consequences may be administered for running up a score

SV All-Star Tournament • All-Star Tournament Rules: 2018-19 Rules & Regulation Booklet versus 2019 Area/Sectional All-Star rules • The Sectional All-Star Rules will be available on the Section website: www.siliconvalleynjb.com under “Winter League”, “Division Rules & Docs” • The National All-Star Coaches Package will also available on the Section website • There are differences between the Sectional and Nationals operation of the tournament such as, we here in the Section allow a scorekeeper to sit at the end of the bench. No scorekeeper is allow on the bench at Nationals unless it is a coach. National allows two (2) bench coaches • The Player Advantage Rule as defined in the posted Tournament Rules and distributed by HQ will be in effect during the Sectional and the National Tournaments - there are differences from the Regular Season rules

SV All-Star Tournament • All-Star Tournament Information: • Gym Management – clean bench area after your game • Game Items – Only Player Participation rule can be protested – protest must be marked in the scorebook • Coach must present certified Team Roster to score table on game day – make extra copies of the Roster • All-Star teams MUST have the word "ALL-STAR" on the top portion of the back of the player's jersey above the number (both home and away sides) – Optional for Sectional, Required at National • Coaches remind your parents that there will be a Gate Fee for the Sectional All-Star games. The Gate Fees covers: • Gym/facility costs • Referees • Scorekeepers • Awards
