    38. Slide 38 3/16/2012 Faculty Numbers as a Function of Brigade Size Our graduation rates demonstrate the payoff from a low student/faculty ratio. With the ratio fixed, the faculty size is simply a mathematical result of the Brigade size. This chart shows various Brigade and faculty sizes for an 8-1 ratio (in blue); a 7.5-1 ratio (in red); and a 7-1 ratio (in beige) [NEXT SLIDE]. We need a faculty of 560 for a Brigade size of 4200.Our graduation rates demonstrate the payoff from a low student/faculty ratio. 39. Slide 39 3/16/2012 Student Engagement National Study of Student Engagement Five key clusters of activities Challenging intellectual and creative work; setting high expectations; importance of student effort Frequent student-faculty interaction as mentors and to model how experts think about and solve problems Active and collaborative learning; students learn more when intensely involved in their own education and engaged in answering messy, unscripted questions Complementary learning opportunities outside the classroom augment academic programs Supportive campus environment providing assistance when needed
