Requirements for Funding • You must become a community partner, not only a grant recipient • You must provide quarterly reports with a success story and photo upload • You must hold a workplace/volunteer United Way campaign fundraiser
Putting Fun Back into Campaigns Pledge forms is the traditional means of doing campaigns but lets take it a step further Campaign Ideas: • Jeans Day $5.00 for that day or $15.00 for the week • Bake Sales • Jersey Day $5.00 to support that team you love for a day • Pancake Breakfast( the organization pays for the supplies to make the breakfast and charges $5.00 per plate) • Hot Dogs or Hamburger Grill Fest(Invite employees to support UWLS through their $5 dollar purchase of a lunch plate) • Chili Cookoffs( a big win for most organizations) It is vital that non-profits who collaborate and work as a partner with UWLS believes in the cause of making the community a better place and when we pull together and unify we all win!
Additional Info • Only one application per FEIN • Grants range between $5,000 to $25,000 • Grant will fund only up to 75% of program • Fund only 50% of direct program salaries, but not benefits, taxes, overhead, or building expenses • United Way funds programs, not agencies
Changes • We are changing the way we look at our “grants” and moving into “contracted services” • Beginning in the 2020 cycle, no agency may receive more than 4 consecutive years of funding from UWLS. • While not required until 2021, an agency that has both a disaster and sustainability plan will receive more points on their application.
Changes Continued… • The application questions will be changing slightly, please allow plenty of time to review these changes once the application goes live on September 15th • If your program has an income limit lower than the ALICE threshold, you must make accommodations to ensure at least 50% of your allotted amount is open to the ALICE households
Grant Software • Please visit our website at www.uwls.org for the link to access the portal, our 2020 funding booklet which includes an example of the funding agreement • The website will be updated by August 12th 2019 • Letter of Intent will be available from August 15th – August 31st • Each process will close before a new one opens
