CTE Mission Statement • The mission of the Grossmont Union High School District Career–Technical Education Department is to provide quality programs that support academic achievement resulting in post secondary options for all students as they acquire the tools for lifelong success.” • Providing CTE as an option for all students in the district has been identified as a goal in the District strategic plan.

  3. CTE is: • An organized educational program of courses directly related to preparing students for both careers and post-secondary education.

  4. Career Technical Education can help you decide your future. • CTE allows all students to be College Ready and Career Prepared. College Ready A challenging academic component prepares students for success in colleges and universities and other postsecondary programs. Career Prepared A demanding technical component delivers concrete knowledge and skills through a cluster of technical courses. Students learn through real-world experiences that complement classroom instruction.

  5. CTE is a vital part of: • Individual Graduation Plans (IGP) • CTE and Career goals part of plan • Post Secondary Plans (PSP) • CTE and Career goals part of plan • All students, reviewed every year

CTE Statistics in GUHSD • 35 ROP programs located at all ten high schools • 100 businesses participate as student internship sites or teacher job shadow sites • 16 ROP courses articulated with the community college in which students receive college credit • 9 ROP programs recognize and/or offer industry certifications • 10 ROP classes receive UC “a-g” credit • 15 ROP classes receive specific subject graduation credit; All receive elective credit

CTE Multiple Pathways • A sequence of CTE classes that build upon each other to provide a clear “pathway” of instruction in one industry area. • Student cohorts: students travel through the “pathway” as a team. • Academic teachers work with CTE teachers to reinforce both academic and CTE curriculum.
