  2. Day 1 – The Aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan Watch the following news report. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24890795 What are the immediate problems facing the Philippine population? Who will help them? How will they survive? Can you imagine what it would be like if this was Newport? Reflect on what you have seen and discussed.

Day 2 – Typhoon Haiyan Hits Watch the following news report. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24906576 How is it possible that so much damage was caused and so many people lost their loved ones? What causes a Typhoon to occur? Are they always this destructive? How would you feel if a storm of this power hit Newport. Where would you go to be safe? Make a list of “essentials” that survivors need. What is most important? Why? How can we help? What could we do? Should we help? Reflect on what you have seen and discussed.

  4. Day 3 – Global Warming? Watch the following news report. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-24213816 Discuss this clip with your class-mates. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answers. If humans are effecting the climate of our planet how can we stop it? Will this effect our life-style? Reflect on what you have seen and discussed.

  5. Day 4 – Pros & Cons of Global- Warming • Make a list of 5 advantages and 5 disadvantages of global warming. • Now compare your answers with the following slides.
