  4. Are there any circumstances Where profanity is excused ? • NO ! • Never ! • It is wrong in all places and all times • When you are in Pain • Arguing with someone • When you get Angry • To express your feelings ?

  5. What is Profanity ? • Abusive, vulgar, or irreverent language • Irreverence for God • That which pollutes our speech • Dirty, filthy, crude, unwholesome

  6. What Does the Bible say about Profanity ? “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” Exodus 20:7 36. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt. 12:36-37

Rotten, worthless, morally bad “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Eph. 4:29 “For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.” James 3:2 “But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes," be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment.” Jas.5:12

  10. What about slang words ? By words – form of swearing Interjection – words thrown in Euphemism – substitution of a word which is less offensive

  12. Why Slang Words are Wrong Matt. 5:33-37 33. Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34. "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35. "nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36. "Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37. "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
