  1. World War I Technology By Tessa Tibbott

  2. Machine Guns • When World War I broke out, machine guns were invented to kill more soldiers, faster. With the ability to shoot 15 or more rounds a minute, these were by far the deadliest guns yet.

  3. Tanks • New means of transportation meant a great advantage for these countries. The first tank was used in the Battle of the Flers. Tanks easily ended the trench wars. The requirements for the tanks in WWI were: Have a top speed of 4mph on land; Ability to turn sharply at top speeds; Ability to climb 5-foot parapet; Ability to cross an 8-foot gap; A working radius of 20 feet; and a crew of 10 men with 2 machine guns and 1 light artillery gun. These tanks were so deadly that everyone wanted them, but only those who had them had an advantage.

  4. Bombs • In 1916 Frederick Handley Page created the Handley Page bomber. This was used to bomb enemy submarine bases that same year. Then, near the end of the war, they began using huge, 1,650 pound bombs. These bombs easily killed many and cleared out whole cities.

  5. Aircrafts • In WWI, many different aircrafts were invented to fly over places and bomb or inspect enemy boarders. Despite the fact that the artillery used and stored in these aircrafts were not very accurate or effective, people used them often in this war as well as wars to come.
