  5. Assonance Repeated VOWEL sounds in a line or lines of poetry. • Apple • Eagle • Orange • Unicorn

  6. Metaphor A direct comparison of two unlike things.

  7. Hyperbole Exaggeration often used for emphasis.

  8. Onomatopoeia Words that imitate the sound they are naming.
