  2. Puerto Rico no es un paísni (nor)estado (state). Es un “commonwealth” asociado con los EstadosUnidos.

  3. Esunaisla (island) de 100 millas de largo (long) y 35 millas de ancho (wide). El dinero (money) oficiales el dolarestadounidense.

  4. La capital es San Juan. En el distrito “Viejo (Old) San Juan,” las casas son coloniales y tienencoloresbrillantes (bright).

  5. Unascomidastradicionalespuertorriqueñasincluyen: “los pinchos” (chicken or pork skewers) “lasalcapurrías” (fried plantains stuffed w/ meat) y “los tostones” (fried plantains).

  6. Un animal famoso en Puerto Rico es “el coquí,” unarana (frog) pequeñaquees de los árboles (trees) de “El Yunque”.

  7. “El Yunque” es el parquenacional de Puerto Rico. (It is the only tropical rainforest protected by the U.S. Forest Service.)

  8. Un lugar (place) popular en El Yunqueesla “Cascadade la Coca”.
