  2. Personification • An Animal given human-like qualities or an object given life-like qualities. • Feeling action or characteristics

  3. Alliteration • Constant sounds repeated at the beginning of words. • Caleb calls Chris cause he’s coming to California.

  4. Assonance • Repeated vowel sounds in a line or lines of poetry. • Keeps sounding the same

  5. hyperbole • Exaggeration often used for emphasis • Take something true then exaggerate it way farther.

  6. Onomatopoeia • Words that imitate the sound they are naming. • A buzz or a ding or a hiss or a roar

  7. Metaphor • A direct comparison of two unlike things. • Got to leave like or as out

  8. Simile • A comparison of two things using like or as • My mind is like an ocean

  9. Imagery • Most images are visual but they can also appeal to the sense of sound, touch, taste, or smell
