  2. Background and ownership Uncut was launched in May 1997 as a monthly magazine aimed at 25-45 year old men that focus on music and movies. It is still in print today. Its is edited by Allan Jones and published by Allan Summer. It has a website www.uncut.co.uk

  3. Style, layout and genre • Uncut magazine is £4.80 and has 122 pages. • The genre is alternative rock evident from the dark background and names of the band in colours writing. • The main image is of the band that is the main feature story inside. • The generic conventions used in Uncut: • Rule of thirds • Bold masthead • Colour schemes of blue, pink and white • Main cover line of feature story in big letters • Barcode, price and date • Teasers • Pull quotes

  4. Content and approach The sort of stories and features in uncut are all about different music artists. There are two page covers about Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, John Lydon, water boys, vampires etc. This shows that to the industry and fans Uncut magazine view the magazine to be serious about music rather than gossip and stories about artists.

  5. Promoting the industry/ products The magazine Uncut only has one music retailer which is “the sound machine”. This shows that is aimed for a older audience because not many younger people own vinyl records. The magazine or website isn’t sponsored by anyone. They only advertise things purely about music. Such as gig, music videos of the artists in the magazines, and tickets to different music events.
