  2. WHAT IS SERVICE LEARNING ? • Service-learning is a method of teaching, learning and reflecting, frequently youth service in the community. As a teaching method, it falls under the philosophy of experiential education. • Service Learning integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection, to: • Enrich the learning experience • Teach civic responsibility • Encourage lifelong civic engagement • Strengthen communities for the common good

  3. Service learning is a method by which students or participants learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that is conducted in and meets the needs of a community

  4. What Happened on March 8th? All 10th grade Access students participated in a Service Learning Day in their towns and villages: • They helped children clean, paint and decorate their kindergartens • They taught English to younger students • They designed and hung materials in English in one of the younger students’ classrooms • They added color to their own school by drawing and painting the walls, fences, and benches
