Objectives To learn about similes, metaphors, personification, and hyperbole, students will: • Participate in the poll, showing their current knowledge. • Participate in oral discussion of definitions and ask for more examples. • Watch the video to get a general knowledge. • Label given sentences in the order they raise their hand. • Label pictures by pasting a small circle in the boxes. • Complete homework assignment.

Definitions • Simile- A comparison using like or as. • Her eyes sparkled like diamonds. • Metaphor- the comparison of two similar things but doesn't use the word like. • Her eyes are diamonds. • Personification-Giving non-living things living traits. • The kites danced in the sky. • Hyperbole- An exaggeration. • I’m so hungry I could eat a horse!
