  2. There are four things I need to think about first… • Will I enjoy it? • Will it help me get a job? • Will it help me to become a better person? • Will it give me access to further and higher education?

  3. He did history! Yes! We really value it! In fact most employers, if they’ve got any sense, would tell you that the skills that are taught within the subject are very useful in work, study and life. so did she! And her! One big question that needs answering is whether employers value history?

  4. Don’t forget that it will also allow you to weigh up the evidence carefully before making decisions. History teaches you to not take everything at face-value – you listen to both sides of the story. With a history GCSE you will be able to use information to help you solve a problem or issue at home or at work Let’s not forget that it helps you Make good decisions based on the evidence.

You forgot to mention that history helps you Understand how and why humans behave as they do by looking at how they behaved in the past – a must have skill if your job involves working with other people! History also helps you to Learn how to express yourself clearly and make yourself heard. This is a good skill to have for job interviews and in any career!

  6. The beauty of history is that it’s your opinion that counts!

  7. Employers want people who are: -Able to think for themselves. -Open-minded. -Disciplined. -Good at problem solving. -Able to pick out the important things. Still not convinced? History helps you with these skills!

In GCSE History you will learn about modern world history in the 20th century And you will also do two depth studies on Germany and America between the wars You will study conflict in the modern world by learning about the causes of WW2 and the Cold War that developed after WW2 Don’t forget that students will have to do a source based controlled assessment comparing Britain’s role in the two world wars

  9. 37.5 % Paper 1: Peacekeeping, causes of WW2, the Cold War End of WW1, Treaty of Versailles, League of Nations Hitler’s foreign policy, appeasement Capitalism v Communism

  10. 25 % Controlled Assessment: Britain during the two world wars

  11. 37.5 % Paper 2: Germany 1919-39, USA 1918-41
