  1. Welcome to Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School Scotland

  2. Our School This is the main entrance to our school. This is thenursery entrance

  3. These are the classrooms for primary 1 and 2 And these are primary 3 – 7’s classrooms

  4. Our Children We have 500 pupils. Many have come from other countries, such as Poland, Russia and Pakistan. Scotland is now their home

  5. We have 16 classes: 8 in the upper school, 7 infant classes and 1 nursery class.

  6. Teaching Staff There are three senior management staff • We have 19 teaching staff, which include an EAL teacher, learning support, P.E. and music specialist.

  7. Nursery Staff There is one nursery teacher and 3 Child Development Officers • We are fortunate to have our nursery joined to our school.

  8. Non-teaching Staff We have Pupil Support Assistants and Additional Support Needs staff.

  9. Mrs Howard-Norris is our Clerical Manager Mr Reilly is the School Janitor

  10. School Cafeteria • Healthy lunches are served everyday in the school cafeteria.

  11. Breakfast Club Some children come into school at 8.15am to enjoy breakfast in the cafeteria.

  12. Learning in the Classroom We do Active Maths. Here we are learning more about Symmetry. We worked with our writing partners to write stories connected to our topic.

  13. English Language We use ICT to help improve Spelling. We enjoy working independently with a partner for reading. This involves reading aloud to each other, giving feedback on how well we have read and what we can do to improve. We then complete a variety of tasks on the text.

  14. We can practise our times tables using different games on the computer. Maths Learning about symmetry with the help of mirrors. Our Symmetry Art. Using number fans helps us with mental maths.

  15. Environmental Studies When we work collaboratively we can help each other become successful learners. Here we are learning about jobs in Ancient Egypt. We go on trips to help us learn more about our topics. Here we are at Kelvingrove Museum learning about mummification through role play.

  16. Sport Sport is an important part of our school life. Every class has two hours of sport each week

  17. We have lots of after school sports clubs too! We do badminton, judo, games, dance, hockey and yoga when school ends at 3.15!

  18. We learn outside too!!!

  19. Our school grounds We have many benches for children to spend time together. We use our animal bins to keep the playground tidy. Our large back playground.

  20. Buddy Benches for chatting to friends… If a child sits on the Buddy Bench another child will always come along to chat.

  21. Playground games to enjoy… Hopscotch Playing through the Giant Pencils. Toadstools for the infants. Snakes and Ladders Our Pupil Council is arranging for new games to be painted in our yard.

  22. Fresh air and space for everyone… We can shelter from the rain! We have two large football pitches.

  23. Buddies Buddies having fun! Primary 7 children helping Primary 1 children to settle into their playground.

  24. Responsible Citizens Pupil Council members liaise with peers and staff to enhance our school.

  25. Eco Committee Eco Committee members look after our school and the environment. Here they are counting supermarket vouchers to claim gardening equipment.

  26. Fairtrade • We are also a Fairtrade School! We have a Fairtrade tuck shop and use Fairtrade goods for school events.

  27. Community We use our local park for health and sports activities as well as learning about nature and biodiversity. We learn how to keep safe in our local community. Members of the police, fire brigade and road safety visit our school to remind us how to keep safe!

  28. Our Parish Our Church, next to our school, is called Our Lady of Lourdes. We often attend services here and show our faith by reading and singing hymns.

  29. Mr Reilly our school janitor won an award for his service and dedication to our school and community.
