  4. The Promises of God Introduction: • Promises are something that we hold dear, put great value in and rely on with deep expectations. We use the term in some cases of Promises, “A Man’s Word is His bond”. Meaning you can not get any better assurance than a person’s word – Promise. • It use to be that a “promise and a hand shake” sealed the deal

  5. The Promises of God 3. When a promise is broken it is such a devastating blow to us in so any ways. Sometime it may be unavoidable. But in so many cases “a lie” has been told, the person never intended to do what they promised in the first place or it was just to get someone off of the their back for that moment. Some folks do this when it comes to getting the preacher or elders “off their backs” – they promise………..

  6. The Promises of God Some other examples - a. A parent breaks a promise to a child – so many examples that can be so damaging to the child. b. An Employer breaks a promise to an employee. • Your ‘best friend” breaks a promise that you counted on. d. A spouse breaks the most important promise of all to you, to be faithful in the marriage. e. And the List can go on and on.

  7. The Promises of God 3. God is the ultimate Promise Maker and Keeper. He has made more promises to mankind than we can ever imagine or count. 4. THE BIBLE IS FILLED WITH HIS PROMISES, that should give us the greatest assurance and peace of mind one could hope for. 5. The Best thing about these Promise are that they can not be broken due to the nature of God.

  8. The Promises of God • GOD’S NATURE – HE CAN NOT LIE IT IS IMMUTABLE – NOT CAPABLE OF CHANGE A. The Bible Assures us that GOD CAN NOT LIEtherefore His Promises can not be broken, • This gives us a very Strong Consolation , Comfort, Encouragement in God’s Promises b. Something that we CAN LAY HOLD ONTO c. WE CAN BE SURE AND ANCHOR TO IT Hebrews 6:17 – 19

Therefore WE can COMMIT TO HIM Our Souls by trusting in Him and doing His Will. • I PETER 4:19“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their soul to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.” To what degree have we committed to the Lord?

He is a God of Truth, Moses calls Him this in what is referred to as Moses’ Song in Deut. 32:4 “ He is the ROCK, his work is perfect, for all his ways are judgment, a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” He delivered His people just as He said that He would. How truthful do we consider him to Be?

Solomon states that God isunfailingin his promises during the dedication of the Temple;“Blessed be the Lord that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he has promised: there hath not one word failed of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” I KINGS 8:56 How “unfailing” do we see him as being?

  12. The Promises of God E. God Promised Noah He would not destroy the World again in the manner that he did and set a Token of His Promise in the Sky. We still see today – A Rainbow Genesis 8:20-22, 9:8-17

  13. The Promises of God II. TODAY HIS PROMISES ARE: A. Grounded in Christ– “For all the promises of God are in Himare yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” II CORINTHIANS 1:20(see vs.18 – 19) Because of that - they are;

Of Infinite Value“According to his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of himthat hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” II PETER 1:3,4

  15. The Promises of God III. SOME OF HIS PROMISES ARE 1. Brighter Days - PSALMS 30:5 2. Deliverance - PSALMS 34:19 3. “All things work together for good to those that love him.” ROMANS 8:28

  16. The Promises of God 4. He will “Wipe away all tears” REVELATION 21:4 5. Answer our Prayers - MARK 11:24 6. SALVATION – JOHN 3:16 And they are Cumulated in Eternal Life “And this is the Promise he hath promised us, even eternal life.” I JOHN 2:25

  17. The Promises of God Conclusion: • God has given us many Promises, ------ too many to count. • He will keep everyone. • Because He Can Not lie. • When we trust, believe, stand steadfast in Him it will not be in vain, I CORINTHIANS 15:58 ARE WE TRUSTING IN HIS PROMISES?

  18. What MUST You Do to Be Saved? • Hear The Word Of God Romans 10:17 • Believe His Word Mark 16:16, John 8:24 • Repent of your sins Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38 • Confess your belief Romans 10:10, Acts 8:37 • Be Baptized Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38 For the Remission of Your Sins Acts 22:16 Galatians 3:26, 27 • Live Faithfully Titus 2:11-14
