The Promises of God

GENESIS 9: 9-17

the promises of god1
The Promises of God

Introduction:

  • Promises are something that we hold dear, put great value in and rely on with deep expectations. We use the term in some cases of Promises, “A Man’s Word is His bond”. Meaning you can not get any better assurance than a person’s word – Promise.
  • It use to be that a “promise and a hand shake” sealed the deal

3. When a promise is broken it is such a devastating blow to us in so any ways. Sometime it may be unavoidable.

But in so many cases “a lie” has been told, the person never intended to do what they promised in the first place or it was just to get someone off of the their back for that moment. Some folks do this when it comes to getting the preacher or elders “off their backs” – they promise………..

Some other examples -

a. A parent breaks a promise to a child – so many examples that can be so damaging to the child.

b. An Employer breaks a promise to an employee.

  • Your ‘best friend” breaks a promise that you counted on.

d. A spouse breaks the most important promise of all to you, to be faithful in the marriage.

e. And the List can go on and on.

3. God is the ultimate Promise Maker and Keeper. He has made more promises to mankind than we can ever imagine or count.

4. THE BIBLE IS FILLED WITH HIS PROMISES, that should give us the greatest assurance and peace of mind one could hope for.

5. The Best thing about these Promise are that they can not be broken due to the nature of God.

To what degree have we committed to the Lord?

C. He is a God of Truth, Moses calls Him this in what is referred to as Moses’ Song in

Deut. 32:4

“ He is the ROCK, his work is perfect, for all his ways are judgment, a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”

He delivered His people just as He said that He would.

How truthful do we consider him to Be?
