  1. This graph shows that the majority of people enjoy horror themed rides with the second highest being a book or film based ride. For this reason I am going to incorporate the horror theming into the ride. This result is useful because I wanted to place the ride in the Gloomy Woods section of the park, this then links the ride with the area. I think the time that people would wait would greatly reduce if people got bored and also might increase if there is something to entertain them as they walk through. Most people will wait between thirty minutes and one hour and ten minutes. This reinforces the importance of good theming and entertainment to keep people interested in the park and passing on positive information about the park – such as queues that pass quickly. The majority of people think that having a clear background story would make a ride more exciting, for this reason I will be investigating into some possible background stories – there might be some more local myths and legends that I could use to theme the ride on and base around the tale. • What do you think makes a good attraction? • “I think a good attraction is something that excites you even as you are queuing” • “Something that has lots to look at” • “It’s good when you can see the ride and watch the coaster carts go round – so you get all tense” • “When they have a theme to it – like a scary theme – and things jump out or stuff like that and you’re ready for the ride” • “When your in the station and there's still interesting stuff happening” • “A good ride is one that has something you wouldn’t see anywhere else, like not in real life. Things that link with the ride.” Most peoples favourite ride is a roller coaster. For this reason the ride I will build will be coaster, however looking at the chart I can also see a lot of people like free fall, spinning ride and log flumes - there could be a way to incorporate these ride styles into the coaster to create a ride that uses all these styles and would be even more appealing bringing more customers into the park. This graph shows that the theme of a ride is very important to customers. For this reason I will be ensuring that there is a strong theme through the queue path and into the ride itself. This would also be echoed through the marketing of the product.

  2. The majority of people would enjoy a ride set in total darkness but a fair amount of people wouldn’t enjoy it. For this reason I will be using total darkness for some parts of the ride but limiting it so that people who don’t like total darkness would also enjoy the ride. There is a tie between sat down and flying based carts. I think that because these are most widely available many people prefer them because its what they know. However, I will be designing my ride to fit with this as if that style is more popular then more people will be excited about it and visit the park because of it. Most of the people questioned thought that having an interactive queue path would be more interesting. I will be looking into how to make the queue paths engaging and how to get people interested while stood waiting for the ride. I will do some research into existing queue paths and how these ideas could be developed or improved to use alongside my ride. Most people would prefer it to be a mystery but still a lot of people would prefer to see it. I think from looking at this graph having some teasers of the ride would be good because it would satisfy both. I think a lot of people want to see the ride to feel more comfortable about being on it – however not seeing it would add to the tension. For this reason having glimpses should relax those who don’t like the complete unknown and having glimpses at moments of key track features should excite those who like the mystery rides. There is a fairly even spread of views across this chart. I think it shows that people really like a lot of the features associated with coasters. The most popular is the hydraulic launch which will create a quick start. I think this could possibly be used later in the ride – possibly twinned with a sudden stop to create an “escape” sort of feel to the ride. The other features could be added around the ride.
