  3. Discussion session (10 minutes) • Which questions were difficult to answer? • Which ones couldn’t you answer? • What additional questions do you feel should have been on the questionnaire? • What issues do you think are important to students currently at university?

  4. Unistats demonstration (15 minutes) • The Unistats website • unistats.direct.gov.uk • Unistats is the official site that allows you to search for and compare data and information on university and college courses from across the UK.

  6. How to use Unistats Search results Choose data to show, to show data for each course Browse the available courses through the search results Use the filters to refine your search Click on a course to view more statistics about it

  8. How to use Unistats Comparing courses Add courses you are interested in to your Shortlist Select “Compare courses” to see a comparison of courses in your Shortlist

  12. Independent research (15 minutes) • Research courses on Unistats that interest you • Find out information about the courses • Create a shortlist of courses that you are interested in • Compare two or more courses • Register with Unistats • Download a pdf report of your comparison

  13. Reflection (10 minutes) • What did you find out from Unistats? • Did the information surprise you? • Was it useful? • What was the most interesting piece of data? • How could you use this website at home to help inform your decisions for HE?
