  2. Why we chose this place • Convenience -Platteville • Connections we had at Manor Care • Had hours we could work with • Never been in a nursing/rehabilitation facility

  3. What we did • Played cards – euchre • Played BINGO • Helped decorate and write Christmas cards • Talked and visited with the residents

  4. What we learned • They can be very competitive • Even though they are slower, they are still young at heart • They deserve a great deal of respect • Need to speak up and speak clearly to them • Help them in anyway you can • They smile over the simplest stuff • They let you know how they feel about other residents

  5. The staff • Very friendly • Willing to work with us • Informed us on some of the residents and their behavior

  6. Highlights • Resident got Jennifer in trouble • They were annoyed with one another • A sex offender • They get mad if you’re not there • Not afraid to tell the obvious • They’re pretty fast and tell you when you’re being slow • They cheat

  7. What you can do • Volunteer your hours there • Become a friend • Send cards, flowers or chocolates (they love their candy) • Play euchre for hours
