  2. A Higher Standard for CTE High Quality: CTE Standards ensure that all approved courses are taught to industry standards by CTE certified instructors. Consistent: CTE Standards ensure that all approved CTE courses statewide are taught using the same or similar industry standards and competencies. High Quality CTE Standards Relevant Consistent Relevant: CTE Standards ensure that all approved courses provide students with current skills needed in today’s workplace. CTE students completing preparatory programs will be industry ready and may be industry certified!

CTE Legislation--SHB 2973 Each high school or school district board of directors shall: • Adopt course equivalencies for career and technical high school courses offered to students at the high school. • A career and technical course equivalency may be for whole or partial credit. • Each school district board of directors shall develop a course equivalency approval procedure.

  5. CTE Legislation--SHB 2973 cont. Career and technical courses determined to be equivalent to academic core courses, in full or in part, by the high school or school district shall be accepted as meeting core requirements, including graduation requirements, if the courses are recorded on the student's transcript using the equivalent academic high school department designation and title. Full or partial credit shall be recorded appropriate.

  6. CTE Legislation---2SHB 2789 Pathways for CTE Students increases coordination, outreach, and communication for building and construction-related pre-apprenticeship programs.

  7. CTE Legislation--- ESSB 6475 CTE Alternative Assessment • ESSB 6475 authorizes OSPI to develop and implement a collection of evidence as an alternative assessment to the WASL. • The bill also directs OSPI to develop additional guidelines for students in certain approved CTE programs.
