  2. Simile • Using like or as to compare 2 things. • The girl is like a boat.

  3. Metaphor • Comparing 2 things without using like or as . My sister is a cat when he runs.

  4. Hyperbole • Using exaggeration to make a point. • He got tons of money in his pocket.

  5. Onomatopoeia • Sound words. • The phone kept ringing, ringing.

  6. Alliteration • Repetition of beginning words. • The silly snake sneaked outside.

  7. Personification • Giving human qualities to something not human. • The iron waved at me.

  8. Idiom A well know expressions that does not mean what it says. Time was against the clock.
