Insights into the Iraq War: Casualties and Consequences as of March 14, 2011

DESCRIPTION

On March 14, 2011, devastating news emerges from Iraq and Afghanistan. In Kunduz, a suicide bomber targets an army recruiting center, claiming over 33 lives and injuring 42 others. In a separate incident in Baghdad, an explosion injures five, including three policemen. The war raises profound questions about accountability and consequences, highlighting the costs of U.S. intervention: approximately $900 billion spent and 4,439 American troops lost. This situation spurs critical discussions on the morality and effectiveness of military actions.

  3. There was many people who could have help prevent the war just by speaking up and they just kept there mouth shut and let it happen. What I was most surprised about Director of Strategic Policy Paul Hughes

  4. What angered me most • They were killing people that didn’t need to die. Why is it that America thinks they can have nuclear weapons but the second another country has them America goes into war.

  5. Facts you should know • Spent & Approved War-Spending - About $900 billion of US taxpayers' funds spent or approved for spending through November 2010. • U.S. Troop Casualties - 4,439 US troops; 98% male. 91% non-officers; 82% active duty, 11% National Guard; 74% Caucasian, 9% African-American, 11% Latino. 19% killed by non-hostile causes. 54% of US casualties were under 25 years old. 72% were from the US Army • Iraqi Police and Soldiers Killed - 9,830

  6. Questions I have • What would have happened to the people that held there tongue if they did say that it was a bad idea? • Will we ever be able to fix the mess we made?
