  1. WELCOME To CAL Lab Computerized Academic Learning

  2. Why are you here? • It’s part of your career center program • Everybody needs to work with computers and the Internet • Reading, Writing, and Math are still important and necessary skills to develop • You will need a Resumé to get a job!

  3. How Long Am I Here? • Oncea week • Only 45 Minutes • Make the best of the situation! – You will have real jobs that will be worse and last much longer through the day…

  4. EXPECTATIONS • Take good care of the computers – they are expensive! • Remember – you signed a computer and Internet User Agreement • Do NOT mess with other computers around you!

  5. Rules: • NO FOOD or DRINK in the lab! • Do NOT play around with the chairs – which means: • No spinning around • No rolling around the room!

  6. ALSO - - - - • If a computer is on - • If a computer is off - Leave it ON! Leave it OFF!

  7. INTERNET RULES! • The Internet provides us with useful information, references, resources, and entertainment. • However, there are guidelines for using it properly at school.

  8. Internet • NO Email unless for school purposes • NO Chatting • Most game sites are blocked

  9. Do you understand? • Leave computers just as theyare when you enter the lab • Whether or not they are ON or OFF! • Take care of computers and leave other computers alone • The Internet is not for play time.

  10. On a sheet of paper…. • Write down the main rules and expectations • THEN sign your name on the paper and place it on the table by the door. [AFTER THIS IS FINISHED!!!] Click on this Arrow for Help Click on this Arrow to Continue

  11. What??? – Don’t Remember??? • Here they are again. • 1. – Leave computers just as theyare when you enter the lab. • Whether or not they are ON or OFF! • Second – The Internet is not for games or play time. • AT ANY TIME! • Click on Red Button to Go Back!

  12. Almost there • You are almost finished • When you see a slide that reads: • THE END – • You continue clicking until you get a BLACK screen

  13. To Finish – PAY ATTENTION! • Press the Esc key on the upper left-hand corner of the keyboard – NOT YET! • Place the paper you signed on the table near the door • Go back to your seat and sit QUIETLY!!!

  14. THE END! • NOW you are almost done – remember what to do? • Click until you get a BLACK screen • Press ESC • Turn in your paper and sit down
