  1. Week 1 July 2002 013 English FIBER SENSOR Detection of the presence or absence of stickers Hard to detect the presence or absence of stickers since mounts of the stickers are thick. PACKAGING, PHARMACEUTICAL AND FOOD PROCESSING It used to be hard to detect the presence or absence of stickers because their mounts are thick (with white colors), and light does not go through. Digital fiber sensor: FX-301 Rectangular head fiber : FT-Z8 Stable detection because light even goes through thick paper with strong light emitted. TIPS: FX-301 emits a lot of amount of light by adopting the double-coupling lens. Light goes through even thick paper and can detect the presence or absence of thick paper (white) easily. Saving space TIPS: FT-Z8 is a ultra thin head with a size of W8.5 x H12 x D3mm. You can even install it at a limited space since it is a front sensing type. You can save space since the fiber cable can be bent sharply with a bending radius of R4mm. Easy installation TIPS: Installation and beam-axis alignment can be done easily since FT-Z8 is a rectangular head with M2 screws at two points.

Week 2 July 2002 014 English FIBER SENSOR Detection of notches of wafers SEMICONDUCTORS & ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS With fixed-focus reflective type fiber of other companies, stable detection is impossible. This is caused as a result that the difference between light intensity with notches and the one without notches is small because of big spot light. Digital fiber sensor: FX-301 High precision fiber: FD-G4 Zoom lens: FX-MR5 Possible to detect due to the fiber with the zoom lens TIPS: It is possible to detect with a lot of difference between light intensity when having notches and the one when not having notches because the minimum spot diameter is 0.5mm (screw-in depth: 8mm / distance to focal point: 13mm.) Saving space TIPS: You can install it at a limited space because FX-MR5 is a side-view type.

  3. Week 3 July 2002 015 English FIBER SENSOR Detection of thread breakage of industrial sewing machines Stable detection was not possible although conventional sensors used to detect tension. OTHERS Conventional products used to detect thread breakage by detecting its tension. However, stable detection was not possible. Digital fiber sensor: FX-301 Array fiber: FT-AFM2E Compact TIPS: FT-AFM2E is compact with a size of W5 x H15 x D15mm. Easy installation TIPS: Installation is easy since FT-AFM2E is rectangular. Prevents chattering with delay timer TIPS: Delay timer of FX-301 prevents chattering due to thread fluttering, and stable detection is possible.

  4. Week 4 July 2002 016 English FIBER SENSOR Detection of rubber on metal parts Receiver Emitter Would like to detect rubber on shiny metal parts. FT-FM2 + FX-LE1 FT-FM2 + FX-MR2 AUTOMATIC ASSEMBLY Extrusion of rubber Metal part Rolling Conventional products can detect it only from a far distance because there is a robot around sensing objects. Digital fiber sensor: FX-301 M4 fiber for general use: FT-FM2 Zoom lens: FX-MR2 Expansion lens: FX-LE1 Stable detection even with long sensing range TIPS: Long sensing range is possible by setting FX-301 to the LONG mode, attaching FX-MR2 to an emitter of the fiber head and making screw-in depth deeper. High resolution TIPS: The LONG mode of FX-301 has slower response time, but it allows a better sensing ability and stable detection of the difference in the amount of light. NOTE This application uses the attachment lens in a different way from general usage.

Ultrahigh-speed laser displacement sensor Sensor head HL-C105B Controller HL-C1CM You can detect quartz crystal and glass. TIPS: HL-C108B and HL-C105B are specular-reflective types, which are the best for detection of objects with mirror surface and transparent objects. Accurate detection of micro-objects. TIPS: Resolution of 1um and linearity of +/- 0.1% F.S. allows high-precision detection.

  6. Week1 August 2002 017 English Inspection of good wafers MEASUREMENT SENSOR We used to use a competitor’s product. HL-T1001F SEMICONDUCTORS & ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS Computation unit HL-AC1-CL HL-AC1 A digital panel meter was needed to check if there is warpage from 50 to 200um against wafer (thickness: 800um.) Ultra-compact laser line sensor Sensor head HL-T1001F Controller HL-AC1 Computation unit HL-AC1-CL It is possible to have a stable detection of warpage of 50um. TIPS: With the laser beam of 1mm, it is possible to detect slight warpage of 50um. No need for digital panel meter. TIPS: Connecting a computation unit between controllers can calculate two sensors, and it can be displayed on the controller. Therefore, there is no need for digital panel meter. Compliant with the FDA standard. TIPS: HL-T1001F is compliant with the FDA standard.

  7. Week2 August 2002 018 English Measurement on thickness of a bottom plate of battery cases MEASUREMENT SENSOR Side HL-C108B-BK People pick them up and measure them with calipers. Serial I/O equipment ELECTRIC APPLIANCES HL-C1C-M Many man-hours were needed since people used to measure them with calipers. Ultrahigh-speed laser displacement sensor Sensor head HL-C108B-BK Controller HL-C1C-M Stable detection for moving objects is possible by ultrahigh-speed sampling rate. TIPS: The fastest sampling rate in the class, 100 us. Saving cost and space. TIPS: Possible to connect two sensor heads to a controller. You can save cost and space for one controller when using two sensors. Data maintenance is easy. TIPS: Controller HL-C1C-M is equipped with series input/output by RS-232C. Thus, it is possible to read and write setting data and read measurement values.

  8. Week3 August 2002 019 English Measurement on eccentricity of a fan of air conditioning MEASUREMENT SENSOR With products of other companies, stable detection is not possible because of effects from a color of the object (black) and a shine. HL-C108-BK ELECTRIC APPLIANCES HL-C1C-M HL-C1DP-E With products of other companies, it is not possible to detect black plastic mixed with quartz. Ultrahigh-speed laser displacement sensor Sensor head HL-C108B-BK Controller HL-C1C-M Console HL-C1DP-E Stable detection for black objects. TIPS: Possible to detect black objects with little amount of reflective light by a linear image sensor type. We cut slight noise, and stable detection for eccentricity measurement is possible. TIPS: The noise by quartz that prevents proper measurement on eccentricity was cut by low-pass filter function, which makes stable measurement possible. Ultrahigh-speed sampling rate TIPS: With the fastest sampling rate in the class of 100us, higher-precision detection has become possible.
