Assignment Calendars Binders, desks, and backpacks—Neat and organized Cover all textbooks, no sticky covers (use book socks/paper bags) Absent work—Can’t call for work until third day - Please call ahead if want to pick up work Notice for tests—5 days or end of chapter/unit All work in cursive Basic Classroom Procedures

  5. Basic Classroom Procedures (cont.) • Wednesday Folders • Contain evaluated work • Important bulletins • Sign and return on Thursday • Things left at home-deliver to office (lunch to cart) because disruptive to instruction

Curriculum Goals • Open Court Reading, novels, & projects • McGraw Hill Math: Multiplication, division, measurement, geometry, charts & graphs, data analysis • Houghton Mifflin Science: Earth, plants, animals • Scott Foresman History: California – regions, resources, environment (United States – regions) • Writing • Project Head, Heart, Hands (H3) • Too Good For Drugs • Technology---Access to computer, internet, WebQuests, Flash/Jump Drives

  7. Writing Goals State/District Writing Assessment • Three possible types: • Personal Narrative • Response to Literature • Summary • Beginning of March • 6+1 Traits of Writing

Homework & Grading Policy • Roughly 30-45 minutes of homework (unfinished classwork, projects, studying for tests) • Be guide on the side • Letter Grades & Credit/No Credit • Missing/Late Notices • Grade lowered if turned in by end of school • No credit if not turned in by end of school • Please sign and return to school the next day • Absent Worksheet

Parent Donations • THANK YOU!!! • If you still have not made a donation, it’s not too late (see back table for forms) • What we use the money for: • In-class field trips/presentations (Walk Thru—Decemberand Gold Rush Day—March) • Math supplies • Assignment calendars • School/art supplies/technology • Novels for Reading class

Parent Volunteers • Room Parent – Volunteers Needed • FAME - Volunteers Needed • Music for Minors – Volunteers Needed • Science Lab field trips to creek – Volunteers Needed • Field Trips (on campus) - Walk Thru CA, Gold Rush Day, Watershed: If volunteers are needed I will notify you ahead of time.

Birthday Treats • Please be aware that we have several children with food allergies this year! • To keep all of our students safe, please send alternatives to help your child celebrate their birthday: • A storybook to add to our class library • Pencils, art supplies, etc. • Individually wrapped food items • Napkins • NO DRINKS (Water is permitted)

  13. Get Ready, Set, Go! Please send your child to school ready to start the day! • Pack school books and assignments the night before • Send lunch to school with child in the morning • Do not bring forgotten items to the classroom, it is very disruptive • Please write a note to your child before you leave tonight
