  1. Catastrophic Events: Historian Floods normally occur in low lying areas. They begin with heavy rains. The substantial amounts of rain begin to overflow local bodies of water. Once the water bodies have reached the maximum amount of water they can hold, they then begin to overflow. Once they overflow, the water starts getting into homes, buisnesses, and roads. This can create massive amounts of damage to the area. Roads can break apart and give way, homes and buisnesses can get water inside them and many other areas can be destroyed. Floods also can make ground water levels rise.
