  4. About Ms. Holland Grew up in Daly City. This is my 4th year at Las Lomitas. UCSD for bachelor’s, teaching credential, and M.Ed., math emphasis certificate Taught Prek-K, 1st, 2nd, and combination class.

  5. MyTeachingPhilosophy Whole child approach: social, emotional, academic beings. Mistakes are a good thing (if you learn from them)! Positive environment where students feel safe and appreciated. “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

  6. My Goals Maintain a safe environment (physically, emotionally). Teach the California Common Core State Standards. Meet each student’s needs Communicate effectively with parents Inspire curiosity and a love for learning!

  7. Classroom Management Intrinsic motivation Positive reinforcement. “Hooray Chart” for individual student behavior. Behavior goals and table points for positive reinforcement.

  26. Reading at Home • Model good reading habits. If it looks like reading is important and enjoyable in your life, you are sending the message that reading is important to your child. Read with your child, to your child. They learn to read in the classroom. They learn to be readerson your lap.

  28. What Did You Do Today? When children come home at the end of the day,The question they're asked as they scurry to play,Is, "Tell me, what did you do in school today?""NOTHING!   29. Instead: Will you teach me a math game you learned this week? Who is the star of the week? Tell me about a game you played during P.E. What piece are you working on in writing workshop? Tell me about the book Ms. Holland read out loud today.
