  2. WhyYoga? Yoga means meeting with the “true self”. Yoga is a technique of living to achieve liberation from life suffocation, with power, peace & bliss. In Yoga Sutras, Sage Patanjali describes yoga as union with universal consciousness. Sage Patanjali explains as long as the mind is not under control, it continues to assume the form of the “vrittis” or the perturbations in the mind and these vrittis become the cause of human suffering. Our body is made up of Panchmahabhutas-five elements of nature, when these elements are imbalanced in our body, it causes in disease and suffering. For example too much fire element in the body can create inflammation, swelling where as too much water can dampen fire and cause indigestion. Air element- breath control takes center stage. A vital life energy is in the air our life force, we breathe and yoga helps to learn breathing exercises use deep, abdominal breathing in which abdomen expands on inhalation and contracts on exhalation. Practicing yoga can help to balance your chakras, the main energy centers of your body alongwithpranayama and Shatkarmakriyas purify these elements and restore balance and good health.

Regular practice of yoga is useful in the prevention, mitigation and curing the various diseases. Yoga controls physiological functions linked to stress, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, metabolism and brain waves. Yoga helps in reducing symptoms and improve the quality of life for people with a wide range of medical disorders, including cancer, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease and migraine. Yoga helps to harmonize the endocrinal secretions, thereby balancing the emotions and giving a positive attitude to life. Yoga is centered around a carefully selected series of body postures called asanas and breathing techniques called pranayama. The postures are performed while standing, sitting, or lying on a mat.

Benefits of Yoga over Exercises Doing exercise there is breakdown of cells due to which serum level of uric acid, urea and Co2 in blood is increased leading to fatigue, while practicing yoga enhances secretion of “Happy Hormone” i.e Dopamine, Serotonin, Endorphins which enhances pranshakti thereby building strong immunity in our body. • Exercise utilizes 3 to 14 calories per minute while by yoga utilizes 0.8 to 3 calories per minute that is practicing yoga small amount of energy will give more benefit to the body. • Doing exercise only the targeted muscles are Hypertrophied or built not benefiting the whole body while yoga focus on moving, stretching and strengthening all the body parts in a way that considers and nurtures the whole of our body.

Dietetic & Lifestyle Measures • Take more seasonal fruits & juices, seasonal vegetables, buttermilk, tender coconut water. • Avoid Maida(white flour), refined food & drinks, sugar, chocolates, bakery products, fried stuff, non-vegetarian, alcoholic beverages, tea, coffee,smoking/chewing tobacco, zarda, pan masala • Drink 4 litres water per day. Drink 2 to 4 glass of water on getting up in the morning. Do not drink after lunch & dinner for at least 1.5 hour. • Three hours gap between dinner & sleep. • Do not mix cooked with raw food. • Before going to bed drink 1 glass of Pudina/Tulsi + Dhania water should be taken for good sleep for cool and calm mind.

MudraPranayam • It is a yogic breathing technique. • Our body is made of five elements imbalances of any of these causes ailments & diseases. • The five fingers are five elements with help of these elements can be balanced according to diseases. • With pranayam every cell becomes fully oxygenated & flooded with new life. • After pranayam one is left calm & centered with clear vision of the world & oneself. • It activates body’s natural mechanism to heal itself. It strengthens immunity, removes tensions & worries. • Gives vigor, vitality, sharpens mind & intellect. • When prana fluctuates then chitta (mind) also fluctuates, when prana becomes steady, then chitta also becomes steady.

  9. Shatkarma–The Six Purification Methods in Hatha Yoga The Shatkarmas are the six purification techniques that makes the body clean, strong, free of diseases. It removes toxins and improves concentration. The six techniques are Dhauti, Bhasti, Neti, Trataka, Nauli and Kapalabhati. Enema is, it’s a process where herbal decoction is introduced in the rectum through a catheter to soften and expel toxins or accumulated waste from the colon. The colon plays an important part in digestion, and extracting all the nutrients need from diet to keep body healthy. The colon also removes water from the digested food to form faeces or stool. Activeness of Large intestines increases Constipation, Gastritis, Obesity, Asthma, Joint Pain, Blood Pressure. Light Dinner should be taken day before enema.Depending upon patient disease & condition enema of Lukewarm water, Cold water, Lemon water, Buttermilk, Glycerin, Neem water, Honey water, Honey water etc. After giving enema it should be followed by laghushankhaprakshalana for few days.
