  2. Element of the day • 66 – Dysprosium – Dy • Dysprosium’s name comes from the Greek word that means “hard to get at” • Dysprosium is a minor element in the alloy terfenol. It is also a minor element in neodymium magnets, and it is in certain light bulbs as dysprosium iodide, but there aren’t many primary uses for it.

  3. Element of the day • 67 – Holmium – Ho • Holmium is used in MRI machines to strengthen and concentrate magnetic fields. • Holmium is also used in laser surgery.
