Warm up 02-17-14 • Question: How do you calculate slope? • Answer: • Slope = Rise / Run • Slope = (Y2-Y1) / (X2-X1) • Goal: I will discuss position vs. time graphs and slope.
Element of the day • 59 – Praseodymium – Pr • Rare earth metals are separated from each other in ores by a process called countercurrent solvent extraction, which takes advantage of the very slight differences in solubility of the different elements in water and essence oil. This made rare earth elements much more readily available and industry quickly looked for ways to use them. • Praseodymium is used in eyeglasses that glassblowers wear. When mixed with neodymium, the glasses filter out the bright yellow wavelength given off by sodium when working with glass. This also can be used in lighting to give bulbs a more natural feeling light.
