  1. Ideas for my music magazine Jamie Ritchie

  2. Main ideas • My magazine will be based on dance music. • It will cater for mainstream dance music listeners, and will also include content around popular sub-genres such as dubstep, drum and bass, trance, progressive/electro house etc. • The average age of readers for my magazine is 24. • The magazine’s readers will likely to be 70% male and 30% female. • The readers will have high disposable income to spend on dance music, phones and concerts. • They also like to be up to date with fashion and technology.

  3. Reader profile • Joe is 23 and he lives and breathes dance music. It informs his choice of friends, hobbies, leisure time, attitudes, fashion sense and lifestyle. He engages with music all day, every day, from the minute he wakes up until the minute he falls asleep. • When he is not listening to music or watching TV, he is talking to his friends about music, going to nightclubs and dreaming about becoming the next big DJ. He is plugged in, sharp, has a strong moral code and rejoices in his individuality. • He is a fashion trend setter in his peer group but he is heavily influenced by dance music icons and scenes. Like the acts he supports he is extremely loyal to the brands he trusts. The way he looks and the clothes he wears are integral to communicating ‘his identity’ to the world.

  4. Name and house style • I have decided on the name ‘Bass’ for my magazine as bass is a main element of dance music. • I believe the house style I have chosen is a suitable choice for the genre of music because colours such as blue, grey and black are associated with dance music culture.

  5. Articles I could include • I haven’t yet found any acts to feature in my magazine, however I am interested in interviewing any DJs in the area for my magazine’s double page spread, to be presented like in the example below.
