  1. Evaluation On My Music Magazine Matt Stevens

  2. Front Cover forms and conventions When i started on my cover i knew i needed a bold and strong image to catch the readers attention, i ensured when i took it that it wasn't blurred or had any other obstructions. My next objective was to sort out the masthead. as my magazine is for teenagers and above i decided to make it feel urban and scruffy as it perfectly describes a teenager. i like that white gaps between some of the letters i think it works i then needed to place my masthead on my cover, i placed it just above his head. i used an image mask which allowed me to bring forward the writing my Strapline under my masthead is the phrase for my magazine, giving more of an insight into what my magazine is about if they have not seen it before. the footer gives the reader a brief insight into what else they can expect to see inside of my magazine. i made it stand out by placing a different background with it.

  3. Double Page Evaluation i made my article on in design, this felt very weird from photoshop but i picked it up easily i cropped the picture behind the text to fit in with the white background when i was designing my article i wanted make it an emotional story, so for this i made the page feel lonely by making the page white which gave it a ghosty feel. I used a header to as my title and only used a certain range of colours. i used up as much space that i could use in indesign. i feel that the colours i used fitted in well with the background and the story provided, the red shows power and change while the blue and yellow show the innocent feel to the text

  4. Contents Evaluation For my contents i started by using a simple layout, i added another image of my chosen artist. i then started placing all the information that would be included within my magazine onto the page. this gave me more of an idea of the page layout. with my image that is on my page with the artist, i placed a page number on it so the reader could get there quickly i decided to make my page layout really easy to follow, i did this by making the writing clear and placing page numbers carefully so suit the page layout. Many articles contains features. this is nice visual aid for the reader and interesting as their are other stories.

  5. Social Groups As my magazine is aimed at teenagers and above, my magazine contains a mix of genres providing a wide variety of interest from different social groups. it may be a big risk but it offers a wide variety of buyers for my magazine as one week it may be a new act, then a rock band , then a famous RNB artist ect. The negative of this is that possibly the only buyers will be those that the magazine is covering, for example if the magazine is about a pop band, it wouldn't be brought by those who are interested in rock bands therefore losing sales and profits.

  6. Media Institution As my magazine is very mixed, it would be rare to find a certain to find a certain institution that would fit it. one other magazine that does a wide range of genres is “Q” this magazine has been going for a long time and would be a tough competitor. but on the other hand i may have the advantage as “Q” is made for an older target audience than “TUNEABLE” which may give me an upper-hand. The institution that owns “Q” is EMAP http://www.qthemusic.com/ http://www.emap.com/

  7. Audience Intended Audience as my magazine is aimed at my age group. i decided to give it an urban feel. As the people in the present day have a very wide variety of music i based my magazine around that. this offers a wide range of opportunity for the magazine to expand across the nation and bring in plenty of people who have a collection of music tastes. Attracting and addressing audience to attract my target audience i offered a wide option of interviews and interviews ect into my magazine. this would help bring in potential customers and will hopefully convince them to continue buying the magazine. i used the urban feel to attract my targeted generation, with the colours red and yellow it stands out from the background and works extremely well.

  8. Technologies When i first used indesign i found it very similar to Photoshop, so i picked up what i had to do relatively quickly i didn't have any worries while working on my article on it. When i first used photoshop is was very hard to get used to all the little icons that were scattered across the screen. but after a while i found out what nearly all of them were useful for and found it surprisingly easy to use near the end. As i had never been on a Mac before it was weird at first, but after a few minutes of searching around i found out it was very similar to a regular laptop/Computer.

  9. progression As this was the first time i had used photoshop, i was very proud of what i had achieved, but my celebrations were cut short when i saw what my other colleagues had produced, then i set myself a goal to massively improve from my last attempt. With my first goal in place i decided to really go for it. i got the pictures needed and i immediately felt this picture really worked. with more knowledge of photoshop under my belt i used that to my advantage and used more editing skills to enhance and improve my picture and i personally believe it worked really well.
