What is Volunteering? ... an activity that: • adds value to the community or another person in the community • is of your own free will • is unpaid
Why Volunteer? • positive involvement in your own community • develop an understanding of others • build your own knowledge, skills and direction • demonstrate your character
NSW Premier’s Student Volunteering Awards • at least 20 hours through Years 9 and 10 • different levels – bronze diamond • recognition of activities both within and outside school
How will this work in OUR school? Volunteering opportunities in our school and community Keeping safe • school paperwork • travel arrangements • emergencies
What is expected of me? • listen • be responsible • confidentiality • don’t be judgemental • remember your commitment
