Nouns & Pronouns. Nouns: name a person, a place, a thing, or an idea . Pronouns: takes the place of one or more nouns or pronouns. Pronouns – he, she, I, me, her, him, them, their, we, our, it, etc. Nouns. Concrete Noun: something you can see, touch, taste, hear, or smell.

  1. Nouns & Pronouns • Nouns: name a person, a place, a thing, or an idea. • Pronouns: takes the place of one or more nouns or pronouns. • Pronouns – he, she, I, me, her, him, them, their, we, our, it, etc.

  2. Nouns • Concrete Noun: something you can see, touch, taste, hear, or smell. • Person, cannon, road, music • Abstract Noun: something you can’t perceive with the five senses. • Hope, independence, cooperation

  3. Nouns • Nouns can be singular or plural • Singular: meal, sickness, knife • Plural: Most often formed by adding ‘s’ or ‘es’ • Meals, sicknesses, knives • Collective Nouns: Names a group • Ex: army, choir, class

  4. Nouns • Compound Nouns: Noun made up by two or more words • Ex: life preserver, coffee table, battlefield • Common and Proper • Common noun names any one of a class of people, places, or things. • Proper nouns name a specific person, place, or thing
