  2. What is yoga? Yoga is the ancient physical and spiritual discipline and branch of philosophy that originated in India reportedly more than 5,000 years ago.

  3. It all begins with breathing Why is breathing so important to yoga? • With every inhale and exhale, you create a smooth transition from one pose, or asana to the next • Each breath connects mind, body and spirit creating a firm foundation for each asana

  4. Stress test! How does yoga relieve stress? • Increases body awareness • Relieves body stress through exercise • Relaxes mind and body • Frees the spirit • Sharpens concentration • Centers attention and focus • Refreshes the mind by clearing out stress • Helps in weight loss • Helps in maintaining balance • Gives ability to cope with fatigue

  5. Gender stereotype In the United States, most classes are predominantly females although men are always encouraged and can benefit just as much if not more than females.
