  5. Zola accused the republic of corruption—anti-Semitism and abuse of power.

  6. The Dreyfus case is one of the most important cases in history, and ranks with Voltaire’s defense of Calas. Both highlighted the abuse and despotic power of governments to falsely imprison persons.

  7. The Dreyfus case led to the formal separation of church and state…it discredited the role of church, would be monarchists and the military on the French government.
