  2. Course Prerequisites Junior standing in IPHY IPHY 1010, or another introductory physiology course IPHY 2800, or another introductory statistics course

  3. IPHY 3700 Projects 1. Two Major Papers (each counts 40% of final grade) Discussion Essay (1,750 words): Effects of Low-carbohydrate Diets on Weight and Body Composition Position Paper (2,000 words): You choose an unresolved issue in integrative physiology. The project involves using scientific knowledge, evidence, and reasoning to convince your readers to accept your claim and argument to resolve the issue. 2. Process Activities (12% of final grade) These are exercises for planning, drafting, and revising our two major papers. 3. Peer Review of Position Paper Drafts (5% of final grade) This project involves writing a formal review of drafts of your peers' position papers and participating in workshops in which you'll discuss your reviews with the authors. 4. Participation in Class Discussions (3% of final grade) You’ll have opportunities to participate in class discussions about the writing process and model papers authored by students and career scientists.
