The Name Tiohundra • TioHundra (in English Ten Hundred) – a name that also is the phone number where one can reach all medical services in Norrtälje municipality:10 100 • Background: dialogues with the citizens in Norrtälje – the citizens desire of a simple way to locate in the health care sector • ”One way to enter”

The Name TioHundra The name also has a historical connection and goes back to the time when Norrtälje was divided into various ”folkcounties”, such as Tiundaland*In practice, it meant that each county had to contribute 10100 men and 40 ships to serve the king. * The ”folkcounties” were divided into smaller areas; ”hundare” Each ”hundare” had to contribute 100 men and four ships to serve the king

Background: the Norrtälje Project • Threat of closure for Norrtälje hospital • The hospital was spared – savings demanded and met at 20 Mkr (approximately 2,1 million EUR) for year 2004 • Project goal: To create a long-term sustainable and secure structure for the health, medical services, and care sectors in Norrtälje municipality

Background: the Norrtälje project • The municipality was enforcing the project • Politically exciting – the different parties were in agreement • Form for political collaboration: common committee • Form for operation: jointly owned corporation, owned by the Association of Local Authorities and Regions • Streamlining, yes – but no specific savings were demanded

TioHundra Committee The common committee for health, medical services, and care in Norrtälje • Responsible for Norrtälje population’s medical services and care • The Committee has six members from Stockholm County Council and six members the Norrtälje Municipality • Budget: 1,7 billion SEK (approximately 180 million EUR) • The Committee’s administration has 50 co-workers and constitute of an ordering function (planning/reserving, follow-up, finances, and office) and a public authority function (aid/assistance assessment)
