  3. Professional Development Credits • Research Symposium – April 12 • Dr. Harry Wong will be hosting a FREE conference April 29th from 7-4 at MTSU.  "Positive Behavior Support and Inclusion Conference".  There is limited seating.  www.mtsu.edu/pbsi

  4. AdvisingMarch 15 - 26 Must be FULLY admitted to Teacher Education in order to take Professional Core Courses Graduating? Must have Graduation Audits completer BEFORE advising. Secondary majors – MUST see education advisor BEFOREyour subject advisor Must have an appointment – call 248-1390 Come with a PLAN!

Nominations for Awards • Educational Leadership Award • Junior/Senior level • Actively demonstrates leadership • Role model • 3.0 GPA (Office will check) • Educational Service Award • Junior/Senior level • Involved in service activities • Positive attitude • Role model • 2.8 GPA (Office will check)

  7. Reference Forms Must be completed by appropriate faculty (not your youth minister or peer mentor leader) • For Teacher Education – any three full-time professors at TNU • For Student Teaching – 2 from your major area and one from teacher education

  8. Any students preparing to become educators, can earn up to $600 in Penguin Books gift codes or up to $320 for pilot test participation. See the “You Choose” poster in the hall.

  9. Student Teaching next year? • Must have passed all Praxis tests and have test scores in our office BEFORE Student Teaching • Applications were due January 15th • Interviews will be on April 7, 2010

  10. New Policy If a student has not been enrolled in the Teacher Education program for four or more semesters (Fall/Spring) prior to placement for student teaching, an assessment interview will be called. Such an interview may lead to: • remediation in the form of recommended coursework at TNU; • a request for the student to produce a sample lesson plan and model effective teaching; or • a decision not to recommend the student for student teaching.
