Group Composition • Interim chair from 2014 – USA: Anthony Macintyr • Previous chair, Trevor Glass withdrew due to personal reasons and sponsorship challenges Americas USA Africa/Europe/Middle East: Netherlands UAE (Chairman) UK (Govt & NGO) Asia-Pacific China Japan World Health Organization (WHO) INSARAG Steering Group Meeting, Geneva 13 – 14 February 2014

  4. 2013 – 2014 MWG Activities • Medical Guidance Note developments • Urban Search and Rescue in extreme environments • Supporting the Guidelines Review Group (GRG) • Collaborating with TWG & OWG • Collaborating with WHO on Foreign Medical Teams (FMT)

  5. Collaboration with TWG/OWG • Review of IEC/R Handbook • Status – Completed • Review of the IEC/R Checklist • Status – Completed • Output IEC/R Checklist 2014 • Provided input into the USAR Coordination Cell concept of operations

  6. Collaboration with WHO FMT The FMT initiative seeks to enhance medical response to disasters and is parallel in many ways to INSARAG: • Seeks broad support for a classification system and authorisation process • Development and implementation of a global register • Strengthening of on-site coordination mechanisms • VO • OSOCC • UC/FMT cells? • Provision of technical and operational support Status – On-going

  7. Next Steps • Support in technical documentation • Input for guidelines review • Continued coordination with FMT initiative • Any other technical work as proposed in the TL Meeting
