INSARAG Steering Group Meeting 2014 Key forward looking points • Endorsement of INSARAG Strategy 2014-17 • Welcomed progress in the INSARAG Guidelines Review and encouraged INSARAG countries to take ownership • IEC/R system: requires commitment and discipline; countries to adopt realistic international deployment aspirations • Welcomed the Regional Capacity assessment of National USAR teams done in the Americas and recommended Africa-Europe-Middle East and Asia-Pacific regional groups to consider doing a similar assessment

INSARAG Steering Group Meeting 2014 Key forward looking points • Welcomes the INSARAG Global Meeting 2015 in UAE • Training Working Group and Medical Working Group to continue to support the GRG work – 2014/15 • Welcomed MOU between INSARAG Secretariat and IFRC - 2013 • WHO Foreign Medical Teams, FMTs collaboration with INSARAG / integration with OSOCC • Update of the virtual OSOCC to include language options

Key Activities at the Global Level • Preparations for Global Meeting in 2015: Initiated First Meeting and milestones established – Feb • Steering Group Meeting – Feb • Guidelines Review Group (GRG) meetings- March, June & November • Working Groups Meetings (TWG, MWG) – April, Sept. • Noted wish of the INSARAG Chair to step down after the INSARAG Global Meeting in 2015.

A-E-ME Regional Group Report • Sub-Regional Groups strengthened and contributing to regional objectives ( e.g. DACHL, GCC+J, Russian Speaking States, JIP’s Project) • Strong regional ownership of the Guidelines review process • On-going USAR Capacity Building initiatives in the AEME region – with OCHA ROs and Bilateral cooperation amongst Member States • AEME Regional EQ (field) Exercise taking place in Istanbul, 17 -21.11.2014 - Americas region welcome to participate.
