SB 245 amends 1967 PA 227 • Allow a private residence inclined elevator to be installed and used by a Home Owners Association • The Association is incorporated • The are no more than 20 residents • The Association maintains $1,000,000 of liability insurance • The property is on one of the Great Lakes

  7. HB 4014 amends 1980 PA 299 • Creates the Occupational Fund • Creates Article 14 to License Home Inspectors • Defines Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Systems • Defines Home Inspectors • Prescribes Criminal Penalties

HB 4240 amends 1969 PA 306 • Provides that a rule cannot prescribe criminal penalties • An agency cannot promulgate a rule more stringent than federal standards • Rule making shall consider exempting small business • An agency that violates the chapter when processing a rule is liable for damages

  9. HB 4561 amends 1972 PA 230 • Provides the director with the option of not updating a code for up to 6 years • Allows for the use of new products, systems and methods in subsequent codes not yet adopted

HB 4694 amends 1980 PA 524 • Provides that a public agency cannot enter into a construction contract unless: • The specifications are prepared by an architect, professional engineer designer or draftsman • The specifications are generic • If examples are provided, at least 3 must be listed • It must be stated that other products not listed will be accepted if they meet the performance standards

HB 4695 amends 1976 PA 451 • Provides that a public school cannot enter into a construction contract unless: • The specifications are prepared by an architect, professional engineer designer or draftsman • The specifications are generic • If examples are provided, at least 3 must be listed • It must be stated that other products not listed will be accepted if they meet the performance standards

  12. HB 4892 amends 1972 PA 230 • Exempts state, local and federal government construction projects less than $10,000 of value from permits

HB 4933 • Establishes a new statute regarding the timely installation of sidewalks • If sidewalks are installed in 80% of a development, condominium or subdivision the remainder must be installed within 3 years • Local government may have an equal or stricter ordinance • Violator is guilty of a civil infraction and subject to fines of $50 per day

HB 5011 amends 1972 PA 230 • Defines the electrical, mechanical and plumbing boards by the respective public acts • Defines a Building Official as an employee of a governmental subdivision and may also be an employee of a private organization • Provides that a governmental subdivision may contract with a private organization • Prescribes the functions that may be performed by a private organization

SB 542 amends 1961 PA 236 • Prescribes the condition which action for damages for personal injury, death, or property damage can be commenced against a person engaged in Liquefied Petroleum Business: • The alteration, modification or repair of the system must take place with the knowledge of the petroleum business • The system must be used as intended

  16. SB 570 amends 1972 PA 230 • Prescribes requirements for Log Walls in residential buildings • Minimum of 5 inches thick • Construction complies with ICC 400-2007 • Have a weighted average maximum U factor of 0.31 • Heating equipment shall be Energy Star rated
