  1. 18/02/2005 Digital Storage Media: The backup medias such as CD and DVD seems to have a great role on the computerized working style. The problem with the conventional filing job remains nearly the same here. You have to give proper names to your files and CDs, place them into whatever you use according to a system. Otherwise spending hours just to find a file in a CD may take hours. CDs and DVDs Piles of CDs are all around my computer. They do not only protect the things Iburn into them, they also protect the data from me!

  2. 19/02005 About Drawers: Drawers are my favorite storage areas. They create a specified volume of storage of which can be used in high percentages. In other words drawers let you use most of the volume they give you. The deepest parts of the drawers may be used as personal stash areas. Drawers

  3. 21/02/2005 Working Smarter: This is an audio book that I found very helpful. The linked chapter is the one about organization. Mainly about desk organization. Working Smarter Ch. 3: Organizing

  4. 22/02/2005 Clipboards: These handy tools enables the worker to work anywhere, sitting, standing and even while laying. They provide hard and solid surface to write or sketch on. Clipboards

  5. 26/02/2005 • If anything can be said to be Affective that thing surely has two properties: • it has some effect • The effect has something to do with emotions • “That was the most affective song that I heard.” • Sentence can be read as the singer expressing his feelings well or as the song is effecting the listener in an emotional way. Affective 1 : relating to, arising from, or influencing feelings or emotions : EMOTIONAL <ex: affective disorders> 2 : expressing emotion <ex: affective language>

  6. 26/02/2005 However Effective something doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with emotions. It can have any desired effect. Yet another point to mention about Effective something is it might be something that it is actually in run, that it exists... Effective 1 a : producing a decided, decisive, or desired effect b : IMPRESSIVE, STRIKING <ex: a gold lame fabric studded with effective ... precious stones -- Stanley Marcus> 2 : ready for service or action <ex: effective manpower> 3 : ACTUAL <ex: the need to increase effective demand for goods> 4 : being in effect : OPERATIVE <ex: the tax becomes effective next year>

  7. 27/02/2005 An efficient radiator is the one which can carry the most of the heat flux running inside it to outside of it. A paper clip might be the efficiency summit of human made objects. It provides a great function with nothing but its form. Human efficiency can be defined according to two variables: time spent and money paid. Efficient Output Efficiency = Input cliché

  8. 27/02/2005 I said “We should have the freezer part repaired”. My housemate said “No, This is dead. We should buy a new one”. We agreed to keep it and use the fridge part only and not to buy frozen food. Convergence

  9. 27/02/2005 Gedan-Barai! Oi-Tsuki! Age-Uke! Gedan-Barai! Oi-Tsuki! Shuto-Uke! Sensei showed the combination of moves and we tried to watch and learn. Conveyance

  10. 27/02/2005 It was the heaviest day of the snow. Everywhere was white and cold. Everyone was aware of the power of nature. It was the main subject of all chats. The other day was announced to be holiday. Because the snow was dominating the city. We were trapped in our houses. For two days. Ambient Encompassing

  11. 28/02/2005 I had a new computer and even while I wasn’t working with it sang me songs. But my amplifiers were old and worn so I decided to find and buy cool piece of equipment for my digital jukebox. The pieces I found were great yet I bought a very standard set because the prices of these stereo appliances far beyond their aesthetics. Appliance

  12. 28/02/2005 Carrying the music that you like most to wherever you go. Watching the news as you sit on a bench in the park and so on. Contacting any friend whenever you like... But without being disturbed by the weight that wags in your pocket. Without having to recharge the batteries (because they charge themselves with your body movements or solar energy etc.) They say so. We’ll see. Wearable

  13. 28/02/2005 Italian verb Portaremeans to carry and English adjective Portable means capable of being carried. Turkish Taşınabilir (for me) means probably worth to carry around. I did not own a laptop yet. But it comes to me that with every passing day my PC roots itself more and more to the ground (with every new cable I plug) while Laptops are getting lighter and more compact and traveling around like pigeons. So I am running out of my patience to buy a Laptop yet the only thing that holds me is that I ran out of money. Portable

  14. 28/02/2005 Sharing things is the essence of every social relation. Me and my housemate share the same table for dining. Use the same kitchen and bathroom. We have one TV. When we both wish to watch TV at the same time sharing the “ownership” of the TV alters into the sharing of the “usage” of TV. Because the functionality is the real reason that we own that TV, it would be appropriate to tell what we really share is watching the TV. Shared

  15. 28/02/2005 For the rock (wall) climbers the surface is the essence of all their activities. They get the grip of wherever they can, they hold on to whatever they can. What makes the rock climbers important for the surface paradigm is that they use every point of the surface while in ordinary life we use only the defined (or usual) areas of the surfaces. Surface

  16. 28/02/2005 As a fan of renewable energy sources, I loved this article and it changed my visions on the subject. These printable strip cells are said to be cheap, easy to produce, more efficient, lightweight and flexible but they are extremely harmed by oxygen. The way they will be mainly used in the near future seems to be the mobile applications. Recharging laptops and cell phones by the strips of solar cells printed on our bags, clothes or on the devices themselves seems very possible. However the possibility of energy generation for domestic or urban use is still a mystery. It is said that houses can be painted with these solar cells but the aesthetic and the climatic points seem to be missed in the avalanche of optimism. With all those advantages, opportunities and very few disadvantages, the printable solar cells promises a revolution in the energy market. Solar-Cell Rollout Printable-Solar REVOLUTION

  17. 28/02/2005 Solar Sculpture Public space always lacks some modern art. And modern batteries tend to run out when you desperately need them. The common ground of these problems give birth to the Solar Sculpture. Solar Sculptures are solar cell painted art, placed by geographical consciousness of sun. They generate electricity and store it in a battery embedded within. Any citizen can use this free electric source while enjoying the elegant and refined pieces of art. Another alternative is solar graffiti. (which would find its way with the sculptures around)

  18. 28/02/2005 Projectors are widely used in today’s working and teaching environments but tomorrow it seems that they will have many other interesting applications. The mobile computing appliances (laptops, PDAs etc.) carry out great computing feats but they lack the monitoring size. The solution lies in the future’s miniaturized projectors which will use any surface at hand to display images. However the surface that you project on matters. The color and the geometry of the surface affects the image you will get. In order to overcome this researchers attach a camera (Super scanner) to the system to compensate the distortions and color differences. The great couple of portable projectors and scanners offer their possibilities such as stock control. However the main advantage that I see is to catch a XL display even with a PDA.
