    2. I. Introduction The respiratory system oxygenates the blood that circulates within the cardiovascular system. Ventilation: actual movement of air into and out of the lungs. Respiration: exchange of gases, O2 and CO2

    3. II. The Upper Airway: cleans and warms air Oral Cavity: mouth brings in great volumes of air Nose: contains fine hairs called cilia that clean air as it passes through
