  5. Homestead Act • offered 160 acres of land to anyone who agreed to live on and improve the land for 5 years • mass migration of African Americans and immigrants to the west • found it was very difficult to live there

  6. Populism • The People’s Party • after economic trouble, they wanted the government to make unlimited amounts of silver coins
