  1. Are unmanned aircrafts causing pilots to become obsolete? By Alex McAllister Building a model airplane

  2. Why I chose my topic • I chose my topic because I was interested in flying planes.

  3. Research found • Unmanned aircrafts are smaller, more maneuverable, and less complex systems. • Unmanned aircrafts have limits too; they are limited to the sight of the operator or they fly with other planes.

  4. Research found • Manned aircrafts are more flexible than unmanned and are there in case of malfunctions. • Manned aircrafts have been around for a very long time and are needed to do certain things that can not be done by unmanned aircrafts.

  5. Research found • People have always controlled the plane on the ground or in the vehicle, but now they have made a new drone that not controlled by any sort of pilot. • The pilot on this aircrafts is an onboard computer and is operating almost all independently.

  6. Based on all this research the answer to my question was in the near future there will be a need for pilots, but in future where technology is more advanced there will not be a need for pilots.

  7. Link between research and product • I chose this topic because I am interested in flying and I wanted to study the design of planes for my product.

  8. My Product • Designing/Building a model airplane.

  9. Successes I had • I finished the paper on time. • I passed the first time.

  10. Obstacles • Procrastination • Finding research

  11. What I learned about myself • I wait until the last minute to do things, and I need to start earlier and plan out my steps. • I learned that writing papers comes pretty easily to me. • I get frustrated when I am dealing with tiny details.

  12. How the project will help in the future • I learned time management skills. • I am not interested in flying as a career anymore. • I did like the building aspect, so I might want to do something with construction.

  13. Thank you for your time. Do you have any questions?
