Discover the Amazing World of Nitrogen: The Element That Fuels Life and Science

Join Meghan Patton and Anne Grimes as they explore the fascinating element nitrogen. With the symbol 'N' and atomic number 7, nitrogen is a crucial nonmetal gas that makes up 78% of Earth's atmosphere. First discovered by Daniel Rutherford in 1772, it plays a vital role in our environment, from supporting life to being a key ingredient in ammonia, explosives, and even laughing gas. Learn about its amazing properties, uses in various industries, and fun facts, such as how it's involved in the sound of knuckle cracking!

  1. Awesome Science Project. Meghan Patton & Anne Grimes.

  2. Nitrogen • Element Symbol: N • Element Name: Nitrogen • Atomic number: 7 • Atomic mass: 14

  3. LEGIT STUFF. • Nitrogen is a gas and a nonmetal. • Its located in the nitrogen group.

  4. Nitrogen is awesome. • It was discovered by Daniel Rutherford in 1772.

  5. This is a joy. • It is used in the Earth’s crust & atmosphere, poisons, explosives, and in ammonia.

  6. Scienceis EPIC • The French chemist Antoine Laurent Lavoisier named nitrogen azote, meaning without life. • It makes up 78% of the Earth’s atmosphere but only 3% of Mars’ atmosphere. • The sound you hear when you crack your knuckles is actually nitrogen gas bubbles popping. • Nitrogen is one of the ingredients in laughing gas. • Nitrous oxide is also used in motor racing to increase the power of engine and speed of the vehicle.
